The Staggering Need for Access to Scripture
As Christians, we understand well why we all need to engage with the Bible. It is the Word of God, given to us by God Himself. It is one of His most powerful tools to train and teach us. It contains wisdom, poetry, history, and most importantly, the Truth of all truths, the Gospel narrative, woven throughout the entirety of Scripture. Those of us who already have access can often become jaded with the Bible, which is so freely available to us in our literate world. We must remember that there are billions who do not share this luxury.
Of 7,099 languages spoken worldwide, 3,787 still do not have any access to Scripture whatsoever. Only 9% of spoken languages have the full Bible available, even in text. There are roughly two thousand languages awaiting audio translations, and only about 80 languages have the full Bible available in audio. When 80% of the world – 5.7 billion people – prefer to listen or cannot read, it is imperative that we change these numbers. We cannot fulfill the Great Commission and preach the Gospel to all nations simply by giving the majority of the world the Bible in text. The Word of God must be available in a format that all nations can understand and use. Faith comes by hearing, not necessarily by reading.
As Christians, we know that the only thing that can save us is Jesus Christ – the Word who became flesh, who lived among us and died on the cross for our sins. This good news is the most beautiful and refreshing news anyone could ever receive! It is our job to take it to the nations. If we long for the return of Christ, if we long to see Him take His children home, then we must be a part of this sacred work and share His Good News with the world. Matthew 24:14 boldly promises, “And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
It is our mission at Davar to bring the word of God to people of every tribe, tongue, and nation in audio so that ALL can hear, understand, and believe in the Gospel, the way to salvation. The Bible in text cannot reach everyone. And this is exactly why we exist as a ministry.
We partner with likeminded agencies to record Scripture in audio, and we share everything that we produce freely and widely, so that people all over the world can have access to this precious news of the Gospel and hear of the marvelous works that God has done.
Ongoing work needs to continue and is continuing, but we need your help to finish the task of preaching the gospel to the world.
By the end of 2018, Davar Partners International will complete its 33rd Full Bible & 26th New Testament in audio. More than 178,000 Audibibles are already deployed in the field, speaking God’s Word to people who desperately need to hear it.
“We have seen hundreds come to know the Lord through these audio bibles, and I am certain there have been hundreds more as a result of the Haitians sharing their testimonies with friends and families. This 97-year-old lady had never heard of Jesus nor knew what sin was until we shared with her. She now has an audio bible and is sharing it with others.” Mark Corzine, Children’s Hope, Haiti.
We have heard countless stories of the lives changed by God’s Word, and we are grateful for the support of generous donors who have made this work possible. But the work is not yet complete.
OUR PRAYERFUL GOAL:
In 2019, we aim to record and freely share 14 new Full Bibles and 6 more New Testaments in audio. And we have the capacity to do even more. Please join our team of monthly sponsors and provide Gods Word in audio for people waiting and longing to hear God speak their language.
Let us work to finish the task together by investing our time and resources to make God’s Word available and accessible around the world.
We at Davar desire to provide the full counsel of Scripture to people of every tribe, tongue, and nation, as a resource to pastors and missionaries for evangelism, discipleship, and growth. Only 1% of all spoken languages have the full Bible in audio format, and we desire for each individual to have access to the Word of God in their own language. Help us take the full Bible, with all of its wisdom, counsel, and glory, in audio format to the nations.
